SGS Bangladesh Limited Awarded Certificates to 40 Organizations and 23 Jobseekers

As part of the sustainability activity of SGS Group, the SGS Corporate Sustainability Team arranged a project named ‘SGS Academy for the Community' through SGS Academy Bangladesh to train some unemployed and underprivileged students with professional and personal development training for 4 months to give them the knowl- edge to become competent compliance professionals. Through this project named ‘Advance Compliance Profes- sional’ SGS Academy Bangladesh provided a full set of training worth Tk. 80,000 each for 04 months free of cost.

THE PROCESS OF EXECUTION

 

Back in August 2022 SGS Academy Bangladesh started the process of advertising to receive applications from potential participants. More than 500 applications were received and via every vigorous screening process, only 120 applicants were selected for a face-to-face interview. After the face-to-face interview only 23 participants were selected to take part in the ‘Advance Compliance Professional’ Course. Among them 10 were female and 13 were male.

 

Officially, the program was inaugurated on 07 September 2022 with the presence of the Country Managing Director of SGS Bangladesh Limited Mr. Abdur Rashid. The participants received training on ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, Social Compliance, Sustainability, Lab Management, Inspection, Occupational Health & Safety, Environ- ment, Legal Compliance, Interview Skills, Public Speaking, Presentation Skills, Leadership and Management.

 

SGS Academy Bangladesh arranged these classes with the help of the knowledge and expertise of 11 tutors. 09 of them were from the SGS Bangladesh Limited and 02 were external tutors. Country Manager of SGS Bangladesh also took classes along with notable dignitaries like Brig General M Mofizur Rahman (Retd. Ex Chariman BEPZA & MD DESCO) and Mashahed Hassan Simanta - Best-selling Author and Corporate Trainer.

 

The course consisted of 16-day long classes and 2 additional days for final exam and presentation. During this 04 month’s journey, the participants had to go through 02 quizzes, one final exam, and one presentation which helped the tutors to evaluate their growth and development. On 27th December 2022 via the final presentation, the techni- cal closure of the program was achieved. The students who completed the course are - Dalia Chakma, Fahmida Nusrat, Israt Jahan Tulin, Jannatul Ferdous, Joly Akter, Meherunnesa Khanam, Kazi Raisa Fariha, Snigdha Ghosh, Wahida Ahmed, Yasmin Akhter, A.N.M. Shakil Rayhan, Fahim Abrar, Ariful Islam, KH. Istiak Ahmed, Md. Faysal Hossan, Ferdous Hossen, Md. Kamruzzaman Bhuyan, S.M. Oliul Anwar, Md. Sarwar Parvez, Mohammad Sayam Hossen, Md. Shahidul Islam, Shekhar Kumer Dum and Md. Al-Amin Arman.

 

06 of the participants have successfully been enrolled in a job within 21 days of the training completion.

 

THE CERTIFICATION & CLOSING CEREMONY

 

On 17th January 2023, the Knowledge Certification Department of SGS Bangladesh Limited arranged a ‘Certificate and Award Giving Ceremony’ at Lakeshore Hotel, Gulshan, Dhaka.

 

SGS Bangladesh Limited organized this program to hand over the certificate to its 40 valuable clients and 23 delegates of the ‘Advance Compliance Professional’ training project. Engr. Abdur Rashid, Country Managing Director of SGS Bangladesh Limited handed over the certificates as the Chief Guest of the event.

In the first part of the program, SGS Bangladesh Limited handed over the certificate to 40 of their valuable clients. These organizations achieved its certificates in difierent standards in the year 2022. Many renowned organizations like Pran — RFL, C.P. Bangladesh limited, Unilever Bangla- desh Limited, Marico Bangladesh Limited, Coats Bangla- desh Limited, Max group, and Akij Bakers were part of the certificate receivers. These organizations were given certificates on different standards like ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, FSSC 22000, BRC FOOD, GLOBAL GAP, FSC COC, FSMS ISO 22000, etc. Apart from this SGS has also shown their gratitude towards their long-term business partners. They have awarded 14 of their valuable clients with a 'Partnership Award’ for their long-standing business and for trusting SGS to be part of the development of their organizations. Organizations like Pran — RFL, C.P. Bangladesh limited, Unilever Bangladesh Limited, Nestle Bangladesh Limited, Coats Bangladesh Limited, Max group, City Group, etc. were the receivers of the ‘Partnership Awards'. 

 

In this ‘Certificate and Award Giving Ceremony'— SGS has also handed over the certificate to all these 23 trainees of the “SGS Acade- my for the Community” program and as a representative of the whole class — four students had expressed their gratitude and experience with SGS Academy for the last 4 months and shared their views how such great initiative changed their lives. These two programs were merged to welcome all of the valued clients of SGS Bangladesh Limited to actively participate with SGS Academy to make this training program a success. The trainees were introduced to the organizations, this has opened an avenue for both the employers and the potential employees to connect and create opportunities for each other.The Country Managing Director of SGS Bangladesh Limited, Mr. Abdur Rashid took the floor and expressed his gratitude to all the clients to present at the program and thank them to have their confidence and trust in SGS.
