June 06, 2010: A meeting of the Chamber Committee was held on the day at FICCI office with Mr. A.M. Hamim Rahmatullah, President of the Chamber in the Chair and among others following decisions were taken:

Ø       The meeting observed one minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul of victims of fire incident at Nimtoli & building tumbles at Begunbari of Dhaka city.

Ø       Decided that from now on new members of FICCI will be provided with the rules & regulations of FICCI for adherence.

Ø       Decided that for fund raising FICCI will hold at least one annual event, bringing in Academic of Global repute for a seminar/workshop followed by cultural evening with the top bollywood celebrities performing.

Ø       Decided that the President will write to all FICCI Members and encourage them to attend Monthly Luncheon Meeting. The letter will also include his vision about future FICCI; such as: Branding FICCI, objectives of FICCI & its contribution to the ex-chequer etc.

Ø       Agreed that the Chamber Secretariat will write to all FICCI Members with a request to keep the Secretariat informed about the planned visits of their Global CEOs, if any. So that FICCI could invite the visiting CEOs as Guest of Honour/Special Guest in Monthly Luncheon Meetings.

Ø       Agreed that from now on each FICCI Executive Committee Members will call at least 5/6 General Members prior to monthly luncheon meeting and encourage them to attend or to send their representatives in the luncheon meeting.

Ø       Discussed about having Chamber’s own premise. It has been suggested that in order to do that a substantial sum needs to be raised from FICCI Members as one time Contribution. Further, FICCI might approach Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh during a call on her and request to allocate a piece of land to the Chamber.

Ø       Approved the membership of Afatex Ltd. and elected the applicant company as an “Ordinary Member” of the Chamber with immediate effect.
